Phillip N. Gosnell, 60, husband of Cheryl Wiles Gosnell, of the Antreville Community, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center. He was born in Pelzer, SC to Willard and Jessie Martin Gosnell. Coach Goz or just Goz, as he was better known, was a graduate of Palmetto High School where he played on the 1970 State Championship Football Team. He was a graduate of St. Leo's College in Florida and served in the United States Army with the Military Police. He coached football and taught at Palmetto High School, Crescent High School and Abbeville High School. Goz retired from the Abbeville School District finishing his 30 year teaching career. He was a member of the Pelzer Presbyterian Church. Goz loved his Jack Russell dogs, riding his motorcycle and providing for the birds by having many bird feeders around his property. Goz with his witty sense of humor and dedicated friendship will be forever remembered. He is survived by his wife of 33 years of the home; his beloved dogs, T-Bone, Flowers, Batman, Flossie, Bertie & Zoo; his parents of Pelzer, SC; two brothers, Keith (Cheyrel) Gosnell and David Gosnell all of Greenville; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wade and Ellen Wiles of Iva and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM Friday, June 21, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:30PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tony Temple officiating.
