Proctor B. Ashley

Proctor B. Ashley, 76, of Abbeville, husband of Georgia Hall Ashley, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Self Regional Medical Center. He was born in Anderson County to the late Lawrence and Bessie Bell (Ashley) Ashley. Mr. Ashley served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Pirelli Cable and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Ashley was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Olde Abbeville Camp #39, and enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and just sitting underneath his big oak tree. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Bell Ashley Sprouse, two sisters, and two brothers. Surviving Mr. Ashley is his wife of 40 years of the home; a son, Josh Ashley; two daughters, Ouida Brownett and Marchelle Taylor and her husband Tommy all of Abbeville; three brothers, Leonard Ashley of Abbeville, L.O. Ashley of Abbeville, and Ivey Ashley of Douglasville, GA; two sisters, Carrie Smith and Edna Banister both of Abbeville; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Friday, January 25, 2008 in the funeral home chapel conducted by the Rev. James Blackwell. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
