Robert A. Dillon Sr.

Robert A. Dillon, Sr., 77, of Waterloo, SC, husband of Sue Cain Dillon, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Montclair, NJ to the late Thomas Leo Dillon and Ruth Crooks Dillon. Mr. Dillon was a 1964 graduate of Furman University, where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity and played on the basketball team. He was passionate about basketball and shared his love for it by coaching others. After a career in textiles, Mr. Dillon retired and moved to Lake Greenwood. He was a member of NewSpring Church, Greenwood Campus. Mr. Dillon spent his winters in Sarasota, FL at Oakwood Manor, where he was the president of the shuffleboard club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Miller Dillon. Mr. Dillon is survived by his wife, Sue, of the home; his children, Rob Dillon, Sharon R. Dillon, both of Spartanburg, Alison D. Hartnett (Tom) of Mt. Pleasant, Toni McNeal (Todd) of Athens, GA, and Michael Milburn (Debbie) of Ellicott City, MD; grandchildren, Thomas, Rhett, Nicholas, Addie Rose, Lucie, Hatteras, Ana and Lucas; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:00PM – 1:00PM Friday, December 15, 2017 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville. Funeral services will follow at 1:00PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Sanders officiating. Graveside services will begin at 2:30PM in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 536 Old Quaker Church Road, Laurens, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials, in memory of Mr. Dillon, are sent to the American Heart Association, 156 Milestone Way, Suite A, Greenville, SC 29615.
