Robert H. 'Bob' Long

Robert H. ‘Bob’ Long, 83, of Abbeville, died Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at The Maples of Honea Path.  He was born Honea Path to the late James Thomas and Ora Estelle Davis Long.

A 1959 graduate of Honea Path High School, Bob attended Piedmont Technical College.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  Following his tour of duty in the Navy, Bob worked as an insurance agent with American General Life Insurance Co and also at Regal Textiles in Honea Path for many years. He was a diehard Clemson Tiger fan and of the Baptist faith

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Davis Long and Raymond ‘Bill’ Long; and three sisters, May Elizabeth Long Mead, Linda Long Saylors and Gloria Jean Long Thompson.

Bob was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 3:30PM - 4:30PM, Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will begin in the chapel at 4:30PM with Rev. Ray Massey and Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating.  Burial will take place in M. J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
