Robert L. Ashley

Robert L. Ashley, 89, of Abbeville, husband of the late Betty E. Ashley, died Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson.  He was born in Abbeville to the late Sam and Mamie Pressley Ashley.

Robert honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He was a dedicated employee of the former Milliken & Co – Abbeville Plant, retiring after more than 40 years of service.  Robert was known for his humble and private nature.  He found joy in simple pleasures, especially in his hobbies like selling and working on cars.  Robert led a life filled with hard work, love and commitment.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Robert was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patsy Watson Ashley and several brothers and sisters.

Robert is survived by his two sons, Mike Ashley and Mark Ashley (Denise), all of Abbeville; three grandchildren, Dana Williams (Chuck), Daniel Ashley and Drake Ashley (Jordan) and six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Gracyn, Samantha, Mary Ashley, Lucas and Mallory.

There are no services planned at this time.
