Robert Eugene Vermillion

Robert Eugene Vermillion, aged 76, of Donalds, South Carolina, husband to Julia McCurry Vermillion, passed away on January 10, 2025, at the Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Claude Forrest Vermillion and Ruth Jester Vermillion.

Mr. Vermillion attended Dixie High School and dedicated 50 years to his career as a truck driver, with 30 of those years spent at Milliken. Known for his musical talent, he played several instruments and was an active member of Crossroads Fellowship Church in Honea Path, he enjoyed playing the bass guitar and singing at church services, funerals, and weddings. As a Gamecock fan, he found great joy in supporting his team and spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandson, Harrison.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: brother James Vermillion, and sisters Drucilla Burdette and Frances Ambrose.

Mr. Vermillion is survived by his wife, Julia, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage; his daughter, Marie Vermillion Young (Michael); and his cherished grandson, Harrison Young. 

Graveside services will be 1:00PM Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in Long Cane Cemetery with Pastor Paul Cooper.
