Ron Hilley

David R. ‘Ron’ Hilley, 83, of Abbeville, husband of Linda ‘Lynn’ Pope Hilley, died October 19, 2023, at the Hospice House in Greenwood.  He was born in Greenwood to the late Jim Goodroe and Mary Smith Hilley.

A 1959 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School, Ron received his Electronic Technician degree from Piedmont Technical College.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  Ron retired from the Coca-Cola Company after many years of dedicated service.  He enjoyed camping and fishing; however, his favorite past time was golfing.  Ron was an active member of Abbeville First Baptist Church, the sanctuary choir, and the Sherry Wilson Sunday School class.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Brooks and James Robert Hilley.

Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lynn, of the home; children, Dana Cook, Phil Copelan, Bob Copelan and Rhonda Thorpe; sister, Diann H. Powell; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren

The family will receive friends 10:00AM - 11:00AM, Monday, October 23, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Ron’s life will begin at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chris Sullivan officiating.
