Rucella Ray Cochran

March 19, 1925 — August 18, 2012

Rucella Ray Cochran, 87, of Abbeville, wife of the late Julius Eakin Cochran, died peacefully on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Madison County, GA to the late Thomas Gordon and Lora Ressie Spearman Ray. Mrs. Cochran was a longtime member of Warrenton Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the women of the church. She worked for the Abbeville Shirt Plant and later retired from Abbeville Manufacturing after many years of dedicated service. Mrs. Cochran was a former member of the Sharon Garden Club and will be most remembered as a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by six sisters; Kathleen Wallen, Lora Mae Simpson, Estelle Ray Davis, Bobbie Potts, Juanita Ray and Willie Stevenson and one brother; Donald W. Ray. Surviving Mrs. Cochran are her three daughters; Linda C. Stickles and her husband Van of Elloree, SC, Sandy C. Milford and her husband Sam of Abbeville and Judy C. James of Piedmont, SC; a son, Julius 'Bud' Cochran, III and his wife Kathy of Abbeville; a brother, Kenneth E. Ray of Riverdale, GA; a sister, Grace Balchin of Greenwood, SC; nine grandchildren, Amy Roland (John), Sharie Quattlebaum (Bart), Pete Stickles (Jessica), Craig Milford (Julie), Madeline Milford, Andrew Milford, Dexter Cochran (Lawren), Jacob Cochran and Nolan Cochran; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Warrenton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ed Kirkpatrick and Dr. Bob Pettit officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home.
