Shirley Mae Blanchett

Shirley Mae Blanchett, 86, of Abbeville, wife of the late Frank Blanchett, entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Abbeville Area Medical Center.  Affectionately known as “Nanny” by those who loved her, she was born in Spartanburg to the late Clyde and Elizabeth Hipp Wilson.

Shirley was a dedicated employee of Milliken & Co – Abbeville Plant for 24 years, retiring in 1999.  She spent most of her time with her great-grandchildren, never missing a football, soccer, or baseball game.  In terms of a fan, Shirley was unmatched.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Shirley is survived by her children, David Spencer of the home and Kimberly Christopher (Mitch) of Greenwood; sister, Bootsey Edwards (Clifton) of Greer; four grandchildren, Brittney Crawford, Kayla Rhodes (Cody), Jason Blanchett and Laken Harris; and five great-grandchildren, Zach Crawford, Logan Blanchett, Nash Rhodes, Helena and Anakin Spearman.

The family will receive friends 12:00PM – 1:00PM, Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 1:30PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
