Stewart Lindell, III, 61, of Abbeville, was tragically taken too soon and his precious body passed on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Greenville Memorial Hospital surrounded by a community of family and friends. He graciously had committed to giving back to those in need and was able with God’s help to donate his organs and body tissues to allow so many others to live on.
Stewart moved around with his family growing up as a young man, but lived a majority of his life in Greenville. He attended Eastside High School and was a bus driver. Stewart attended Greenville Technical College for a year but wanted to learn to drive a truck; so, he did and has driven for 41 years. He safely drove one million miles for Auto Zone and one million miles for Conway Freight, now called XPO Logistics. His last four years, he served Reelco of Abbeville where he was one of two special drivers for local runs over the upstate. ‘Stewy or Stew’, was one of his many beloved nicknames he was called. He loved bass fishing having fished all over the state but favored Lakes Hartwell, Russell and Secession.
Stewart was first married to Karen Barker and they were blessed with one precious son, Colton Lindell. After meeting Lynette, he gained his second son, Ross Cobb, and loved both boys so much. Stewart was an honorable and committed husband to Lynette Fleming and their love was magical! God blessed them both to find their true love back in 2008. On June 11, 2011, they were married and have shared a beautiful life together for almost 13 years. Stewart was a true giver and looked out for everyone around him. He played drums for fun and was pretty good and he loved classic rock music.
Stewart was preceded in death by his mother and father, Patricia Jones Lindell and Bayard Stewart Lindell, Jr. Also, his mother-in-law, Sherry Lynn Ross Fleming, his uncle, Steve Lindell and Haskell J. ‘Bud’ Ross, Jr.
He leaves behind his wife, Lynette; sons, Colton and Ross and future daughter-in-law, Hayley Baldwin; two sisters, Susan Rush (Randy) and Jennifer Lindell; father-in-law, Ron Fleming; aunt, Sandra W. Ross; nephews, Buddy Ross (Kim), Michael Ross (Elizabeth), Nathan Rush, Matthew Rush and many great nephews and cousins, as well as many friends and church family.
A service to celebrate Stewart’s life will be 1:00PM, Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Abbeville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stan Colbert and Rev. Randy Rush officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Telford Parlor of Abbeville Presbyterian Church.
The family wishes to thank everyone so much for their prayers, support and love. Please continue to remember that Stewart loved everyone and had a heart to help everyone he could.
