Stewart Russell, 92, of Greenwood – Wesley Commons Community, husband of Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Carter Russell died Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont Hospice House in Greenwood, SC. He was born in Independence, Missouri to the late Floyd F. and Edna Stewart Russell.

Mr. Russell graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Business Administration. He retired as a credit manager of a national food manufacturing company in Baltimore, MD. A proud veteran, Mr. Russell honorably served his country in the United States Army.

Outside of his professional life, Stewart had numerous interests that enriched his life. He found great joy in traveling, exploring new places, and creating cherished memories along the way. His passion for genealogy fueled a lifelong quest to uncover his family's history, revealing the stories of those who came before him. Additionally, Mr. Russell had a deep love for reading, often losing himself in the pages of books that informed, entertained, and inspired his thoughts. He was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Greenwood, SC.

Mr. Russell is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dottie, three sons, John (Kimberly) Russell of Greenwood, SC, Carter (Sandra) Russell of Alexandria, VA and Thomas (Victoria) Russell of Beaverdam, VA; and six grandchildren: Whittaker (Liz), Dorothy Anna, Peter, Jana, Daniel, and Henry.

A celebration of Mr. Russell’s life will be planned for Sunday, May 4, The family will receive friends at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Greenwood, SC at 1 pm followed by a memorial service at 2 pm at the church.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Russell, may be sent to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, PO Box 3283, Greenwood, SC 29648.
