Sue E McCoy

Sue  E. McCoy, 80, of St. Helena Island, SC, wife of Randall McCoy, died Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in Abbeville, SC.  She was born in Van Wert, OH to the late Robert Sterling and Margaret Agler Sterling.

Sue graduated from Lincolnview High School in Middle Point, OH.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who put the twinkle in her eye.  Sue was a member of Praise Assembly of God in Beaufort, SC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert McCoy and brother, David Gordon ‘Chip’ Sterling.

Sue is survived by her husband of 62 years, Randall, of the home; a son, Timothy McCoy (Heidi) of Swampscott, MA; five grandchildren, Randall (Maegan), Candice, Danielle, Tyler and Sydney; three great-grandchildren, Nicole, Cecilia, and Cayden.

To any that knew Sue, knew how much she loved the Beach along with the sunsets and sunrises. This was her happy place on earth.

She enjoyed the simple things in life and treasured every relationship around her, making her community her family. Beyond the family mentioned above she had so many more grandchildren and children whom adopted her into their life as she adopted them as well.

Sue loved baking and cooking and this is how she showed her love from her amazing baklava to her homemade noodles and much more. To know her was to love her.

A service to celebrate Sue’s life will be 2:00PM, Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Praise Assembly of God in Beaufort, SC, with Pastor Wayne Lewis officiating.  The family will greet friends and relatives following the service.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the David and Benita Chupp family for offering their home and attentive care during the last couple of months of Mrs. McCoy’s life.
