Syble V. McCurry, 83, of Abbeville, wife of the late Grady C. McCurry, died peacefully at the Hospice House in Greenwood on Saturday, December 31, 2011. She was born in Chicago, IL to the late Luther and Lillian Stewart Vaughan. Mrs. McCurry, holding her children closest to her heart, was a provider for her family, friends and anyone that had a need she could fulfill. Her family and friends will cherish the many memories and love that she shared. Mrs. McCurry was a founding member of Crossroads Fellowship Church and served in the Eastern Star. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles F. McCurry; three brothers, Billy Vaughan, William R. Vaughan and Milton Vaughan; and two sisters, Anne Deal and Carol Vaughan. Surviving Mrs. McCurry are her three sons, Joseph E. McCurry, W.E. McCurry and his wife Anita and G.C. McCurry and his wife Crystal all of Abbeville; two special daughter-in-laws, Judy Ann McCurry of Greenwood and Connie McCurry of Abbeville; a brother, Carl Vaughan of North Augusta; five sisters, Judy Couch of Mauldin, SC, Pat Warren of Locus Grove, GA, Roberta Ferguson and Lodema Jenkins both of Aiken, SC and Linda Thomas of Pickens, SC; seven grandchildren, Jeff McCurry, Dr. Phyllis MacGilvray, Jessica Fletcher, Shaun McCurry, Elizabeth McCurry, Carson McCurry and Aaron Rutledge; six great-grandchildren, Brittany, J.D., Amber, Rose, Ian and Dylan; and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:00PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Crossroads Fellowship Church, 7832 Highway 20 Abbeville. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
