Teresa Newell McClain

Teresa Newell McClain, 62, of Abbeville, wife of Josh McClain, died Sunday, April 14, 2024, at her home.  She was born in Abbeville to the late Jack T. and Frieda Shields Newell.

Teresa graduated from Abbeville High School, Class of 1979 and retired from the United States Postal Service.  A talented musician, she shared her gift of playing the piano and organ for numerous years at South Side Baptist Church and Grace United Methodist Church.  Teresa had a passion for camping, visiting the beach, and most of all, spending quality time with her grandsons.  Her enthusiasm for the Carolina Gamecock football team was evident to all who knew her.   Tailgating with her “Carolina Friends” and cheering on the Gamecocks made her happy.  Teresa was a member of South Side Baptist Church in Abbeville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Brian A. Newell and Tim Newell.

Teresa is survived by her husband of 44 years, Josh, of the home; a son, Chad McClain (Sandi); a daughter, Monica McClain Isbell (Wayne), all of Abbeville; five precious grandsons, Jackson Isbell, Maddox Isbell, Carter Isbell, Cade McClain and Charlie McClain; and a very special cousin, Karen Bloom (Jeff) of Columbia.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM-7:00PM, Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Friday, April 19, 2024, in the Harris Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Darren Hook officiating.  Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
