Thelma Louise Newell Suber, 93, of Abbeville, wife of Max Suber, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Abbeville to the late Andrew B. and Janie L. Milford Newell. Mrs. Suber worked for many years at the Abbeville Bus Station and retired from the Abbeville Shirt Plant. She has been a lifetime member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School at all age levels. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Rusty Suber; seven brothers, Westfield, Dick, Raymond, Edward, Adolphus, Joe and Marty Newell. Surviving Mrs. Suber is her husband of 65 years of the home; a son, Eddie Suber of Abbeville; a daughter, Gail Begley of Simpsonville; a brother, Jack Newell and his wife Frieda of Abbeville; two sisters, Doris Richey and Polly Smith both of Abbeville; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall. Funeral services will follow in the church beginning at 2:00PM with the Rev. Dr. Joe Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home.
