Thomas Clark Link

Thomas Clark Link, aged 94, of Due West, S.C, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, at The Renaissance Assisted Living in Due West. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Hodges and was born in Abbeville,S.C., to the late Martin Luther Link and Pauline Harrison Link.

A proud 1950 graduate of Sharon High School, Thomas served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He began his work career inthe field of journalism, starting as a typesetter with the Index-Journal and Beaufort Gazette. After many years of devoted service, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Abbeville. Thomas was an active member of Lowndesville Baptist Church, where he found joy in teaching the children’s Sunday school class. Among his many passions, he cherished spending time with his family, particularly his children and grandchildren, as well as nurturing his beloved yard and flowers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and five brothers: Claude W. Link, Robert Luther Link, John Harrison ‘Harry’ Link, Samuel Davis Link, and Francis Clyde Link.

Thomas is survived by his two children, Janet L. Baker (Kevin) of Covington, GA, and Tom C. Link (Emilie) of Abbeville; his sister, Ann Link Davis of Abbeville; six grandchildren: Jeremy Weimer, Jeffrey Weimer, Salliann Weimer (Seth Davis), Matthew L. Link (Rachael), Ana M. Maffei (Joe), and Elizabeth G. ‘Buffy’ Link; as well as five great-grandchildren: Bramblett, Thomas, Leighton, Logan, and Keira.

A service celebrating the life of Thomas C. Link will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for visitation following the service. A private family burial will take place at Long Cane Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions in Thomas’s memory may be made to the American Legion Post 2, 200 Long Branch St., Abbeville, SC 29620, or to LowndesvilleBaptist Church, 464 Main Street, Iva, South Carolina 29655.
