Thomas Mack Ware

Thomas Mack Ware, 71, of Abbeville County, husband of Judy Long Ware, died peacefully Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in the Level Land Community of Abbeville County to the late William Ralph and Iral Leonard Ware. Mr. Ware retired from the Milliken Sharon Plant after 40 years of dedicated service and served as a reserve deputy sheriff with the Abbeville County Sheriff's Department. He retired from the South Carolina National Guard as a Sgt. Major with the HHQ 151st Sig. Battillon. 'Mack' was an active member of Little Mountain Presbyterian Church having served as Clerk of Session, Elder and Chairman of the Cemetery Council. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jean Hagan Ware. Mack is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years of the home; a son, Danny Ware of Due West; a daughter, Cheryl W. Shirley and her husband Chris of Ninety Six, SC; a brother, Billy Ware and his wife Beverly of Abbeville; three sisters, Agnes W. Campbell and her husband Kenneth of Abbeville, JoAnn W. Bell and her husband James of Central, SC and Thelma Ware of Abbeville; six grandchildren, Heather Shirley, Ashleigh Shirley, Katie Shirley, Austin Ware, Christopher Shirley and Kathryn Ware. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 25, 2011 at Little Mountain Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christopher Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of Mr. Danny Ware, 215 Main St. Due West, SC. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Ware, may be sent to the Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC or to the Little Mountain Presbyterian Church Youth Group, 3836 Hwy 28N Abbeville, SC 29620.
