Tommy Boyd

John ‘Tommy’ Boyd, 76, of Abbeville, husband of Bonnie Bryant Boyd, died Sunday, July 7, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Abbeville to the late John R. ‘Pete’ Boyd, Jr. and Margaret Betty Stone Boyd.

A 1966 graduate of Dixie High School, Tommy retired from the CSX Railroad as a conductor. He tirelessly devoted himself to various charitable endeavors. Tommy was actively involved with HopeKeepers for the Chronically Ill and The Most Excellent Way Christian Fellowship for Addicts. He also led a monthly prayer group at A Place for Us Ministries and was a dedicated member of Celebrate Recovery at Northside Baptist Church, Greenwood. His compassionate nature shone through as he led devotions at Faith Home in Greenwood, providing comfort and support to those who needed it most. Tommy’s dedication to serving others and sharing his faith touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing him.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie, of the home; two daughters, Kristy Boyd of Anderson and Jennifer Boyd Fisher (Ben) of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Jimmy Boyd (Pat) of Abbeville; ‘Papa’ to his five grandsons, Tyler, Zander, Ari, Jude and Eli; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM in funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Little Mountain Presbyterian Church cemetery.
