Vickie Ivester Bowie, 65, of Abbeville, wife of Bob Bowie, died Thursday, July 29, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun Falls to the late Horace Ivester and Dorothy Cannon Gable.
Vickie attended Abbeville High School and graduated from Greenwood Vocational School in 1975. A nurse for more than 30 years, she was also the former co-owner of Cherokee Trail. Vickie loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Listening to Elvis Pressley music made her happy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken Gable and Barry Ivester.
Vickie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bob Bowie; a son, Chad Bowie (Chandra); a daughter, Carolyn Hall (Cooter) all of Abbeville; two brothers, Walter Gable and Sammy Gable, all of Columbia; a sister, Winona Smith of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Billy Hall, Erin Bowie, Nathan Hall, Brittney Bowie and Austin McCrary; and three great-grandchildren, Jase, Eden and Waylon.
The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:00PM, Sunday, August 1, 2021 in Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:30PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Providence Presbyterian Church cemetery in Lowndesville.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Vickie, may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
