Vivian Ann (Matestic) Cook, 72, of McCormick, SC, formerly of Canton, MI, passed away on April 2, 2015 in Greenwood, SC due to pancreatic cancer. Vivian was born on December 16, 1942 in Detroit, MI to John and Elizabeth Matestic. She graduated from Henry Ford Community College with a degree in nursing. She married David Cook on April 7, 1973. The Cooks lived in Southeast Michigan where she worked in the hospital setting, home health care and as a case manager supervisor with Blue Care Network, while raising four children. She retired in 2007 and dedicated her life to travel, volunteering and watching her grandchildren. She and her husband relocated to their beloved community of Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, SC in 2010. Vivian is survived by her husband David Cook, her daughter and son-in-law Mary Kay Cook and Brian Dinsmore, daughter and son-in-law Melissa and John Zarow, son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Emily Cook, son Jeremy Cook and her grandchildren Maya and Ryan Zarow, along with many dear cousins, in-laws, nieces and friends around the country. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Matestic, Jr. A Rite of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, McCormick, SC, 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in the prayer garden columbarium. There will also be a memorial team walk at the PanCan PurpleStride in Detroit, MI on May 2, 2015 to honor Vivian's fifteen-month battle with pancreatic cancer (team 'Kick Butt'). In lieu of flowers, commemorative donations are welcome to the family's PurpleStride Team or to the Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander St. Greenwood, SC 29646.
