Vivian Logan Swofford

November 27, 1925 — April 4, 2015

Vivian Logan Swofford, 89, of Due West, died Saturday, April 4, 2015 at her residence. She was formerly of Spartanburg, SC and was married to the late James Edward Swofford. Mrs. Swofford was born in Edgefield County, SC to the late Samuel Francis Logan and Ruth Strom Logan. Mrs. Swofford was a 1947 graduate of Limestone College. She worked for many years with the Savannah River Plant in the Human Resource Department and later retired as a social worker for the Department of Social Services in South Carolina and Georgia. Mrs. Swofford was a devoted member of the Central United Methodist Church in Spartanburg where she sang in the church choir. She served as a volunteer for many organizations and was always willing to help out where needed. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Swofford was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Patricia A. Harrington; a step-daughter-in-law, Rita Swofford; five brothers, Samuel Frank Logan, George Scheurman Logan, Robert Self Logan, James William Logan and William Augustus Logan; and a sister, Juanita L. Drennon. Mrs. Swofford is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving Mrs. Swofford are a step-son, Michael A. Swofford of Gaffney, SC; a sister-in-law, Rachael G. Logan of Florence, SC; and many nieces and nephews. The family expresses their great appreciation to the residents and employees of The Renaissance Assisted Living Facility in Due West for their love and care. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in Oakland Cemetery, Gaffney, SC with the Rev. L. Calvin Draffin and the Rev. Scott Alexander Stevenson officiating. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Swofford, may be sent to Central United Methodist Church, 233 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306.
