Walter R. Harmon, Jr., 80, of Abbeville, husband of Dot Finley Harmon, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Indiana to the late Walter Roy and Anna Pontius Harmon, Sr. Mr. Harmon served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired carpenter and former owner of the Golden Strip Hobby Shop in Simpsonville, SC and a hobby shop in Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Harmon attended Warrenton Presbyterian Church and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Nancy Finley Mundy and her husband Donald. Surviving Mr. Harmon are his wife of 31 years Dot Finley Harmon; two sons, Walter Harmon, III (Connie), Joseph Harmon (Erin) and all of Indiana; one daughter, Diana Koehler of Michigan; two brothers, William J. Harmon of Florida and Richard W. Harmon of Tennessee; two sisters, Lois H. Mahoney and June H. Morton both of Florida; a step-son, Jimmy Finley (Nita) of Abbeville; two step-daughters, Carol F. Speer (Ben) and Karen F. Nicholson (Clyde) all of Abbeville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great - grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM Friday, September 12, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Friday beginning at 3:30PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
