William Mann Broadwell, Jr., 95, of Calhoun Falls, SC, husband of Juanita Broadwell, died Wednesday, June 16, 2015, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, SC. He was born November 27, 1919 in Lowndesville, SC to the late William Mann Broadwell, Sr. and Ethel Jane Mann Broadwell. Mr. Broadwell was a 1941 graduate of Furman University. He proudly served our country from 1942-1946 in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during WWII as a member of the Postal Division. Mr. Broadwell met and married the love of his life, Mary Juanita Calhoun in 1949. His employment history included one year of teaching in Westminister, SC, manager of the Gloria Theater in Ninety Six, SC, operated a drive-in theater in the Sharon Community of Abbeville County, and was a Warrant Officer with the South Carolina Tax Commission for 37 years. Mr. Broadwell was a member of the Lions Club and delivered Meals on Wheels in Calhoun Falls, SC. He was a devoted member of the Calhoun Falls United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher for nearly 70 years and was the church historian. On February 21, 2010, William was honored by the Town of Calhoun Falls with a Resolution as part of the town's distinguished heritage and declared as a good church member, citizen, man, husband, and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Broadwell and two brothers, Clyde and Wayne Broadwell. Mr. Broadwell is survived by his wife of 65 years of the home; a brother, George Broadwell of Calhoun Falls, SC; two sisters, Myrtle Bishop of Anderson, SC and Lena Hopkins of Rock Hill, SC; nine nieces; and eleven nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM to 12:00PM Friday, June 19, 2015 in Calhoun Falls United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 PM in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Dr. Frank McCoy officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be William Broome, Dennis Hopkins, Steve Pettigrew, Bob Pettigrew, Jim Hatley and Neel Calhoun. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home in Calhoun Falls, SC.
