William E. "Hump" Brown

William Earl 'Hump' Brown, 79, of Calhoun Falls, husband of Ann Helms Brown, died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. He was born in Iva, SC to the late Coleman 'Preacher' and Lena Turner Brown. Hump was a 1954 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School. He retired from Mohawk Industries and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Hump was a member of First Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls and worshipped at Northside Baptist Church. He was a devoted Blue Flash Supporter and Clemson Fan. Devotion to his family and serving the community were at the top for Hump. He played on the first Calhoun Falls Football Team and was the first person inducted into the Calhoun Falls High School Hall of Fame, served as the past present of the Jaycees and was a member of the Men's Ministry at the Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving Hump are his wife of almost 60 years of the home; two sons, Russ Brown (Pat) of Lake Secession and Tony Brown (Carrie) of Calhoun Falls; two grandchildren, William Brown (Mindy) of Columbia and Lacey Dunlap (Marlo) of Greenwood; two great-grandsons, Maddox Brown and MJ Dunlap; one great-granddaughter Layla Brown and many extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Northside Baptist Church. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Hump will begin at 3:00PM in the church with Rev. Mike McMinn, Rev. Greg Gibbons , Rev. Jason McCary. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Hump to the Hospice Care of Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646 or Northside Baptist Church, 205 Marion St. Calhoun Falls, SC 29628. The family is at the home.
