William Lee ‘Bill’ Campbell, 86, of Anderson, died Monday, July 8, 2019 at his home. He was born in Hodges, son of the late Thelma Lillian Campbell Mitchell.
Bill was reared in the Asaville Community by his late grandparents, M. Gary Campbell and Ella Durham Campbell and was a graduate of Antreville High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Bill was employed as an industrial engineer and retired from the Singer Plant, later Ryobi. During his employment, he graduated from Limestone College. Many happy hours were spent playing golf; Bill was known to carry his favorite set of clubs in his car on the off chance the opportunity to play would arise. His passion for golf was evident in his volunteer hours at Lake Arrowhead Country Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
Bill was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Nikki Cartee; his wife, Betty Campbell; mother, Thelma; and a brother, Gary Mitchell.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra Banister (David), of Starr and Linda Campbell of Greenwood; a sister, Gayle Nichols, of Anderson; a granddaughter, Taelor Bennett (Thomas); and a great-granddaughter, Elle Banister.
All services will be private.
