William J Jolin

William J. ‘Bill’ Jolin, 95, of Abbeville, Retired TS, US Air Force, WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran, beloved husband of the late Grace Barto Jolin, died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. 

He was born in Williamsport, PA to the late Edward J. and Dorothy Miller Jolin. Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abbeville. 

Bill retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970. He was awarded the US Air Force Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and numerous other medals and awards. 

Mr. Jolin is a life member of the VFW, American Legion, DAV & Air Force Sgt. Association. Past State Commander of VFW and Past National Inspector General of VFW. 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, David William Jolin and Harold John ‘Sonny J’ Jolin; a brother, Edward J. Jolin and a sister, Mary E. Smith. 

Mr. Jolin is survived by his two daughters, Virginia ‘Ginny’ Marie Jolin Gillen of Abbeville, SC and Mary Esther Jolin Burns (Bill) of Greenville, SC; eight grandchildren, Heather (Brian), Eli, Eamon (Alicia), Trent, Tyler, Clay, Devin (Josephine) and Suean; eleven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mariah, Kasey, Caleb, Clementine, Eamon, Jr., Abby, Elizabeth, Aodhan, Kaylee and Orson.

A memorial mass will be held 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Father Jacob Joseph presiding. Inurnment, with military honors provided by the Campbell Patriot Honor Guard, will follow in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery at 1:00PM. 

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Jolin, may be sent to the Campbell Patriot Honor Guard, 217 Greenland Road, Anderson, SC 29626 or to the American Legion Post 2, 200 Long Branch Street, Abbeville, SC 29620.
