William 'Bill' Edward Masters, 79, of 2097 Old Hodges Rd. in Abbeville, husband of Emma Masters, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 at his home. Born in Canton, OH on March 16, 1933, he was a son of the late Albert Edward Masters and Edna Henry Masters. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Canton, OH and then enlisted in the Armed Forces, serving his country in the postal department and as an aircraft mechanic. On March 24, 1955, he married Emma Marie Wengerd. He owned and operated Masters Siding for many years installing siding, soffits and erecting metal buildings. After retirement, he then worked at Stoll Fireplace. He was a member of Whispering Pines Mennonite Church in Honea Path. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William 'Eddie' Edward Masters, Jr., four brothers, a sister, and his step-mother. Surviving are his wife, Emma, of the home; four daughters, Patricia Sue Sommers (David) of Abbeville, Betty Lou Hershberger (Ray), of Pickens, Connie Marie Overholt of Anderson and Cynthia Ann Hershberger (Dwayne) of Hillsville, VA; twenty-three grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and a step-sister. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, September 21, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home in Abbeville. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Whispering Pines Mennonite Church in Honea Path. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home.
