William C. Sharpton

William C. Sharpton, Jr., 78, of 107 McGowan Ave. Abbeville husband of Carolyn Fisher Sharpton died Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center. Mr. Sharpton was born in Abbeville to the late William C. and Margaret Louise Smith Sharpton, Sr. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and retired from the Abbeville Maintenance Shop of the S.C. Department of Highways and Public Transportation after 41 years of service as a Resident Maintenance Engineer. Mr. Sharpton was a Navy veteran serving in the China-Burma-India Theatre, and he also attended Abbeville Schools. Surviving Mr. Sharpton is his wife of the home, a daughter, Nell S. Jones of Greenwood, two sons, William B. Sharpton of Lexington, SC, Neal C. Sharpton of Jacksonville, FL., four sisters, Evelyn S. Norris of Abbeville, Dorothy S. Harmon of Abbeville, Mildred S. Byars of Rockhill, SC., Sara S. Arters of New Castle, DE., and four grandchildren. A Memorial service will be 2:00PM Tuesday, December 21, 2004 in the Harris Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be at a later date. The family is at the home.
