William Murry "Billy" Thompson Jr.

William Murry 'Billy' Thompson, Jr., 57, husband of Susan Dickerson Thompson, of Abbeville died Monday, October 28, 2013 at Self Regional Healthcare. He was born in Asheville, NC to the late William 'Murry' and Ruby Culbreth Thompson. Billy retired from Prysmian Cable with 24 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Main St. United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir throughout his youth. Billy enjoyed many styles of music and especially loved singing and playing the drums. He spent much of his time on the golf course, but the real joys in his life were his 'grandbabies.' In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his first wife, Kyle Knox Thompson, and a brother, Jeffry Thompson. He is survived by his wife of the home; a son, Jeffry Thompson; a daughter, Taylor Thompson (Joey Rogers) all of Abbeville; a sister, Anna T. Litteral (Andy) of Richmond, VA; a step-son, Scott McCurry (Melanie) of Anderson; and five grandchildren, Grier Lawton, Brooklyn, Henry and Tabatha Rogers and Haden McCurry. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:30PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. The family is at their respective homes. Memorial contributions, in memory of Billy, may be sent to the Abbeville Lions Club, 1971 Secession St. Ext., Abbeville, SC 29620.
