Wilton T. "Red" Saylors

Wilton T. "Red" Saylors, 69, of Abbeville, husband of Linda Long Saylors, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Anderson, SC to the late Herbert W. & Selma Fisher Saylors. "Red", as he was known by all, was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed entrepreneur. Over the years, he and his wife have owned a variety of businesses including a Dry Cleaner business, a Laundromat, an automobile lot and a restaurant business. Red loved being a vital part of his community. He never met a stranger and he never failed to share his love of the Lord with those around him. Red was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #3, the Hejaz Shrine Temple and a life member of the Moose Club. Red Saylors will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all that knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Gassaway and her husband Clyde; a brother, William H. Saylors and his wife Quinn. Surviving Mr. Saylors is his wife of 49 years of the home; a son, Dorn K. Saylors and his wife Kim of Abbeville; a daughter, Tangie M. Saylors of Travelers Rest; two brothers, Martin Saylors and his wife Mary and Steve Saylors and his wife Nancy all of Abbeville; four grandsons, who were the highlights of his life, D.K., Justin, Seth and Casey Saylors; and many special close friends and extended family. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Lighthouse Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Burton, Rev. Wendell Rhodes, and Mr. Arant officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Senior Servant Sunday School Class of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home. Memorial contributions, in memory of Red, may be sent to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2918 Highway 72 E, Abbeville, SC 29620 or to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W.
